Terms of Donation

The terms that apply when you make a donation to the Amir Khan Foundation through this website.

Last updated: 15 May 2026

About us

These terms apply to donations made to the Amir Khan Foundation, a charity registered in England and Wales under charity number 1158078, with its registered office at Premier House, Prince Street, Bolton, BL1 2NP, United Kingdom.

By making a donation through this website you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy.

Making a donation

You can donate online through our donation page. We accept single donations and monthly recurring donations. You may give to our general fund (“Where the Need is Greatest”) or choose a specific appeal or programme.

Donations are processed by our regulated payment processor, Stripe Payments UK, Ltd. We do not receive or store your full card details.

You confirm that you are at least 18 years old, that the card you are using is yours, and that the funds you are donating are your own.

How your donation is used

We are committed to a transparent and accountable approach to your donation:

  • 100% Zakat donation policy. Where you have chosen to give your donation as Zakat, we apply our 100% donation policy: the full amount reaches eligible recipients under the categories in Surah At-Tawbah (9:60). Administrative costs for delivery, oversight and reporting are covered separately from non-Zakat sources.
  • Admin capped at 10%. For non-Zakat donations, our administrative costs are capped at 10%, covering delivery, oversight, reporting and the running of the charity. The remaining 90% goes directly to programme and appeal delivery.
  • Restricted donations. Where you choose a specific appeal or programme, we apply your donation to that cause. If the appeal closes, is fully funded, or cannot be delivered for reasons beyond our control, we may apply your donation to a similar cause that meets the same intent. We will be transparent about this in our reporting.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, you may choose to add Gift Aid to your donation. Gift Aid allows us to reclaim the basic-rate tax you have already paid on the amount you donate, at no extra cost to you.

By making a Gift Aid declaration you confirm that you are a UK taxpayer and understand that, if you pay less Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations, it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

You can cancel your Gift Aid declaration at any time by contacting us at info@amirkhanfoundation.com.

Refunds

Donations are non-refundable as a general rule. However, if you believe you have donated in error (for example, a duplicate donation, an incorrect amount, or an unauthorised transaction), please contact us within 14 days of the donation and we will look into your request promptly. Where funds have not yet been committed to programme delivery, we will normally be able to return them.

Cancelling a recurring donation

You can cancel a monthly recurring donation at any time by contacting us at info@amirkhanfoundation.com. Once we receive your cancellation request, no further payments will be taken. Cancellation does not entitle you to a refund of payments already made.

Receipts and acknowledgements

We will email you a receipt for every donation. We may also include you in our supporter communications if you have opted in. You can change your communication preferences at any time by replying to any email we send you or contacting us at the address above.

Our right to decline a donation

We reserve the right to decline or return a donation where we consider, in our reasonable judgement, that accepting it would damage our charitable purposes, our reputation, or the beneficiaries we serve. This is in line with Charity Commission guidance on accepting and refusing donations.

Liability

We take care to ensure that information about our work on this website is accurate. We make no warranties or guarantees beyond those required by law. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited under English law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. The terms in force at the time you make a donation are the ones that apply to that donation.

Governing law

These terms and any donation made under them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Contact
