Why this programme matters

Across West Africa, access to clean water remains a daily struggle for millions of people. In many rural communities, families rely on rivers, stagnant pools and unprotected wells, sources often contaminated by bacteria, parasites and runoff. The consequences are severe: preventable illness, lost time, disrupted education and the constant hardship of living without safe water close to home.

Poor access to water affects every part of daily life. Women and girls often bear the burden of collection, walking long distances in heat and difficult terrain to bring water back for their families. Those hours are lost to school, work and rest. For children, unsafe water can lead to repeated illness and long-term health consequences. For clinics and schools, the absence of reliable water undermines even the most basic services.

The Amir Khan Foundation delivers long-term water solutions across West Africa through hand pumps, borehole wells and community water systems. Each installation is selected based on community needs, terrain, water table depth, and long-term sustainability, helping bring safe water to villages, schools, and health facilities in a way that is practical and built to last.

This is an ongoing programme rooted in dignity and lasting impact. Our aim is to bring safe water closer to communities, reduce preventable hardship and create infrastructure that continues to serve families for years to come.

Give with Confidence

The Amir Khan Foundation delivers this programme through trusted local teams and delivery partners who understand the communities they serve and the practical requirements of each installation. Projects are selected based on need, terrain, groundwater conditions and long-term sustainability.

Each completed project is documented in full, including the GPS location of the installation, photographs taken before, during and after construction, and a completion report confirming the community served and the number of beneficiaries. Where requested, a plaque can also be installed in the name of a loved one.

We are committed to accountable delivery, so supporters can give with confidence and see how their contribution has created lasting benefit for a community in need.

And We made from water every living thing.
