When a hospital runs short of medicines, supplies or basic operating support, the people with the least are the first to lose access to care. I do not believe a parent should have to choose between treatment for a child and food for the family. Through this programme, AKF helps sustain essential healthcare for people who would otherwise struggle to afford it.

Why this programme matters
For millions of families in Pakistan, healthcare is a cost they cannot carry. More than half of all health spending comes out of families' own pockets, and most of that goes on medicines. When a child falls ill, parents in the poorest districts face a choice no parent should face: pay for treatment, or pay for food.
The hospitals that serve these communities run under constant strain. Funding gaps mean medicine shortages, overworked staff and equipment that cannot be repaired or replaced. When resources run out, treatable illnesses become preventable deaths.
AKF support can help cover essential hospital running costs, medicines, surgical and diagnostic supplies, and subsidised treatment for families facing financial hardship. The current defined project target is £4,000.
Donations are held until the £4,000 project amount is raised. Funds then support the agreed mix of operations, medicines, supplies and patient treatment. Delivery is monitored through reporting on the support provided, facilities helped and patient care.
