Why this programme matters

Food poverty remains a daily reality for millions of families across Pakistan. Even when food is available in local markets, many households simply cannot afford enough nutritious food to consistently feed their families. As incomes are stretched by inflation, unemployment, and broader economic pressures, the burden falls hardest on those most vulnerable.

For children, the consequences can be lifelong. Poor nutrition affects growth, health and development. For parents, food poverty creates impossible choices between feeding their families and meeting other basic household needs.

The Amir Khan Foundation has been tackling this challenge since 2020 through its Mobile Food Banks in Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh. Through regular distributions, we provide essential food packs to families facing hardship, helping to relieve pressure and ensure support reaches communities that need it most.

This is an ongoing programme built around consistency and dignity. Our aim is simple: to help vulnerable families access basic food and to stand alongside communities facing persistent hardship.

Zakat & Sadaqah Eligibility

Our Food Poverty Pakistan programme is eligible for Zakat and Sadaqah donations. We have a 100% donation policy on all Zakat donations.

Give with Confidence

The Amir Khan Foundation delivers this programme through our own local teams, who work within the communities we serve and can identify families most in need.

Distributions are organised in advance, with support directed towards vulnerable households facing sustained hardship. Each household is allocated a time slot to visit our mobile food bank, where they can collect essential food items in a safe, orderly, and dignified manner.

We are committed to accountable delivery. Each distribution is documented, with reporting and photo and video evidence gathered, so supporters can have confidence that their donations are reaching real families with real need.

And they give food, in spite of love for it, to the needy, the orphan, and the captive.

Surah Al-Insan, 76:8
