The Amir Khan Foundation has teamed up with Poundland and Best Western Hotels to provide much-needed relief to thousands of families across the UK who are struggling in the wake of the pandemic.

The partnership means families in hardship will receive essential food packs, with basic groceries donated by Poundland. Packed by the foundation’s founder and trustee – two- time World Boxing Champion, Amir Khan – and a team of hardworking volunteers, the packages are being distributed to people in need in five key locations across the country, including London, Bolton, Birmingham, Walsall and Peterborough.

The supplies are expected to be help support thousands of vulnerable individuals and families each fortnight, meaning fewer people will go hungry during the devastating Covid-19 crisis.

Austin Cooke, Retail and Transformation Director at Poundland, said: “We’re so pleased to be working with the Amir Khan Foundation to try and alleviate hunger in the UK at this dreadful time. By working together, we can all make a difference.”

Partnering with Best Western Hotels, who have been housing the homeless in their properties across London during lockdown, Amir and the foundation’s volunteers distributed 140 food packs those temporarily housed at a Best Western hotel in Crystal Palace.

Amir said: “I wanted to come personally and show my support to those seeking shelter. This pandemic is a battle for all of us; we are in this together and I’m definitely in Best Western’s corner, cheering them on.” Andrew Denton, Head of Hotel Services at Best Western, said: “All of our hotels are proud to
be part of the local community, and we’re delighted to have joined forces with Amir by looking out for the most vulnerable in society.”
