Amir Khan and his wife Faryal Makhdoom met the family of Zohra Shah in Islamabad this week, inviting them to Pakistan’s biggest boxing event.

The couple have been personally supporting Zohra’s closest relatives after she was exploited, abused and murdered earlier this year. The case shocked the world, and the Amir Khan Foundation has been helping the family cover their basic living costs and supporting them towards earning a sustainable income in future.

The Amir Khan Foundation has also launched a child protection fund which seeks to prevent other children in Pakistan from suffering abuse and exploitation in Zohra’s name.

“I have invited Zohra’s family to the event as my guests of honour,” said Amir. “I am hoping their attendance raises more awareness around the case and reminds those in positions of power the world is waiting on a verdict and we want justice to be served.”

The international boxing event will give a huge boost to the sport in Pakistan, and Amir added: “I’m excited. It’s going to be an amazing journey in professional boxing in Pakistan.”
